Li Anqi
Li Anqi is a photographer born in Xi’an and currently based in Shanghai. Her work has been exhibited internationally in cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Berlin, and Paris, and presented at institutions, galleries, and cultural platforms such as Grisebach Auction House in Berlin, Joseph le Palais Gallery in Paris, Glasgow Photographic Gallery, the International Photography Festival Rotterdam, Munich Kammerspiele Theater, Chengdu Contemporary Image Gallery, Beijing Tong Gallery, Shanghai Fujifilm Image Space, and TED.
Li studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris on a full European scholarship and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK). Her creative inspiration stems primarily from art films, literature, and painting, which she translates into vivid character portrayals, expressive body language, and vibrant colors.
Using photography as her medium, she explores the boundaries between reality and fiction, the tangible and the imaginary, continually experimenting with the potential messages conveyed through visual language.
Her work has been featured in publications and platforms including Germany’s Der Greif, Martez, China Photography, Photographic Review, and Digital Photography. Her accolades include the 1839 Photography Award in 2021, a nomination for the C/O Berlin Talent Award in 2023, the Kunstpreis der Atelierkate sponsorship award in 2023, and a nomination for the Athens Photo Festival in 2024.
